Abstract

This study explores the translation strategies the Nanjing sports industry employs as it extends its influence within the Republic of China. In the current era, characterized by China's proactive "going global" cultural strategy, effective translation practices play a pivotal role in facilitating cultural exchanges and advancing international partnerships, particularly in sports. From the perspective of functional goal orientation, this research delves into the four essential elements of sports industry work translation: text interpretation, text function, cultural adaptation, and textual impact. It examines the existing translation landscape in the context of Nanjing's sports industry endeavors within the Republic of China and identifies areas where cultural nuances may be underrepresented. In light of the current translation landscape, the study proposes three distinct translation strategies: "literal translation+industry-specific expertise," "function+localization," and "highlighting unique features+emphasizing local customs." These strategies are designed to address the unique challenges posed by translating sports industry-related content and lay the foundation for future successful international outreach and endorsement of translated works. In summary, this research underscores the critical role of translation strategies in promoting the Nanjing sports industry within the Republic of China. It offers a framework for effective translation practices, bridging cultural gaps and contributing to the industry's global recognition and success.
